Berlin, Germany

This is the external basement walls of the School of Industrial Arts and Crafts in Berlin built in 1901-05. (Located beside the Berlin Wall at Martin Gropius Bau)

The broad light shafts with the white glazed slotted bricks were designed to improve the light in the basement. In May 1933 the Secret State Police moved into the building.

Brick memorial erected in 1987 in the Tiergarten to Karl Liebknecht (1871-1919), German socialist who founded the German Communist Party with Rosa Luxemburg.
